Stem Cell - Draft 1

During this first wave of research for my paper, I learned many things from reading my chosen articles. I personally found that the most interesting thing to me was the fact that stem cell transplants no longer have to be embryonic, saving the lives of helpless babies. According to my articles, the fruits of stem cell research aren't far away from implementation, and in the case of bone marrow transplants, are already being used in the hospital. Businesses, eager to cash in on this growing industry, are investing more and more money into the research so doctors can buy better equipment and have more motivation to keep going.

Stem cell research can be helpful not only for humans, but for our pets as well. Broken bones, tumors, lymphoma, many things can be treated with the power of stem cells. Researchers continually test and experiment with adult skin cells, hoping that they can someday replace embryonic stem cells, even though both currently run the risk of inflicting cancer on the treated. Despite the perceived negative controversy on the social level, all the hype is uninformed. If the mass media would stop slanting factual evidence in order to get a rise out of the public, perhaps this issue would have less of a bad name for itself.

  1. This stem cell transplant sound interesting but what are some specific major diseases that are growing in today’s economy that will benefit from it? Also if it can cause cancer on the treated than why not perceive negative controversy. Is there any major businesses that are well known that are eager to cash in. however it would be nice to know both sides. Therefore, State what specific evidence is being slanted by mass media, so the reader can better understand where you’re coming from. also who begin the experimenting of this stem cell? and what hospital was the first to experiment it. i love the topic overall i myself have some type of knowledge on stem cell considering it has came up in the medical field.it is always nice to know a new type of treatment that can help any type of disease either reduce or diminshed.

  2. I agree with much of the world by saying that I would like to know more about stem cell research. It seems like a very interesting topic. I am all for spending money to help better the world in any way. Whether it be investing millions into space programs or stem cell research. I agree with you when saying that the media focuses mainly on the bad, even if it means stretching the truth. Stem cell research could be the future of medical treatment. All in all I say that this topic is interesting and should be easy to write about.
